Hey Skinny Makoti’s 💛

A Week of Flu Remedies, Reflection & Real Conversations

Woman in a leopard print top sits in a sunlit room, wearing sunglasses on her head, with a neutral expression. Pink walls in the background.

Yoh… this week absolutely flew by! Ironically, while life was moving at lightning speed, I almost got knocked flat by flu.

Homemade Flu Shots That Never Miss 🍊🫚

Woman with braided hair and red lipstick smiles in a garden setting. Wears a black tank top. Green plants and lattice in the background.

But listen, nothing fixes me faster than my homemade flu shots. Fresh orange, ginger, lime that fiery little combo will humble any virus quickly, gurrrl!

But while I was curled up sipping warm remedies and trying to recover, I found myself doing something else too… observing people.

Really observing them.

The conversations.The energy.The behaviour.The attitudes.

And honestly Skinny Mamas… I caught myself shaking my head up, down, left, right and centre thinking:

“WHAT THE HECK GURRRLS?!”

“You Should Fear No One But God”

A woman with long hair prays with closed eyes, hands together, in a black and white setting. The mood is serene and contemplative.

Lately, I have found myself repeating the same sentence to so many women:

“YOU SHOULD FEAR NO ONE BUT GOD.”

And whew… that statement alone carries so much weight.

Because somewhere along the way, many of us forgot who we are. We forgot softness. We forgot sisterhood. We forgot integrity. We forgot what it truly means to be women who protect each other instead of secretly tearing one another apart.

And that brings us to this week’s blog, Skinny Mamas.

I really hope this one lands deep.

In your hearts. In your heads. And honestly… right in your guts.

Because today we are talking about Gurrrl Code.

The Lost Meaning of Real “Girl Code”

Two people smiling, walking on a grassy field with blue lines. Background shows tents and people, sunny day, cheerful atmosphere.

The Skinny Makoti way.

There was once a time when “girl code” actually meant something sacred.

It was an unspoken understanding between women. A silent promise to protect, uplift, defend, guide and even correct each other but always with love, dignity and respect.

Not humiliation. Not gossip. Not public embarrassment. Not competition disguised as friendship.

But somewhere along the way… we completely lost the plot, gurrrl.

When Competition Replaces Compassion

Woman in an office sits at a desk, hands clasped. A person opposite holds a document. Laptop and plant visible. Neutral mood.

Since when do women gossip with men about another woman?

Since when do we run straight to the boss, management, HR, or social media before simply having a conversation with our sister first?

Since when did competing become more important than compassion?

And before someone rolls their eyes saying:

“It’s not that deep…”

Oh gurrrl… it absolutely IS.

Because the way women treat each other affects everything:

our confidence, our opportunities, our businesses, our friendships, our relationships, our healing, and even the way we show up in the world.

Women of Colour, Healing & Collective Power ✨

Two women in black tops and jeans pose on a sidewalk. One wears sandals, the other heels. Background: outdoor seating, trees, and people.

Especially as women of colour.

We already fight hard enough to be respected, seen, heard, valued, paid properly and financially secure. So imagine how powerful we would become if we genuinely rooted for one another instead of secretly celebrating each other’s struggles.

Imagine the energy shift.Imagine the healing.Imagine the softness.

The Skinny Makoti Version of Sisterhood

Woman in a green dress holds a small green cake with flowers, licking her finger. She's in a garden, looking content and joyful.

We truly need to get back to Gurrrl Code.

Not the childish version. Not the fake social media version. The grown woman version. The healed woman version. The Skinny Makoti version.

Why Every Woman Needs Strong Values

Two women smiling at a graduation event. One wears a cap and gown, holding a silver clutch. Backdrop reads "GRADUATION" with scrolls.

And one thing I’ve realized lately is this:

Whether you believe in God, spirituality, the universe, or simply standing for something meaningful… every single person needs values.

Because if you stand for nothing… you will fall for everything.

So here it is Skinny Makoti’s…

The 5 Gurrrl Codes We NEED To Bring Back đź’‹

Two women smiling, wearing matching blue flower leis. One in a floral romper, the other in a white dress and hat. Bright, sunny setting.

1. Correct Her Privately, Protect Her Publicly

Two people sit on a sofa in discussion. One holds a clipboard. Background features vertical wood paneling and plants. Soft lighting sets a calm mood.

The first one?

Correct her privately, but protect her publicly.

Not every mistake needs an audience.

Not every disagreement deserves humiliation.

If your friend is wrong, pull her aside gently. Speak with love. Speak with wisdom. Embarrassing another woman publicly just to appear smarter, classier, more educated, or more professional is not empowerment.

Real women protect each other’s dignity.

2. Celebrate Her Wins Like They’re Your Own

Two women sitting and smiling at each other; one in a striped dress, the other in striped pants. They're seated indoors, creating a joyful mood.

The second Gurrrl Code?

Celebrate her wins like they are your own.

Whether she gets:

a promotion,a new car,a healthy relationship,weight loss success,or launches a thriving business…

CLAP LOUDLY FOR HER.

Another woman winning does not subtract from your blessings.

Jealousy blocks abundance faster than anything else.

And honestly Skinny Mamas, energy never lies.

3. Stop Bonding Through Gossip

Two women enjoying coffee at a cafe, laughing together. One wears a floral shirt, the other an orange headband. Pastries on the table. Cozy mood.

Thirdly… stop bonding through gossip.

Too many female friendships today are built entirely around discussing another woman’s business.

If the only time you connect is to laugh at, judge, or tear down someone else… that friendship is spiritually broke.

Tea gets cold.

But character?

Character lasts forever.

4. Share the Plug & Share Opportunities

Collage of business scenes: women in suits working on laptops, stylish office decor, elegant accessories, and the word "CEO" on a wall.

Fourth… SHARE THE PLUG.

One thing wealthy communities understand very well is sharing opportunities.

Share the business contact.Share the skincare plug.Share the recipe.Share the job opening.Share the knowledge.Share the strategy.

Because scarcity mindset keeps women struggling.

5. Speak Life Into Other Women

Two people facing each other, smiling and holding hands. The background is plain white. One wears a brown top, the other a sleeveless dress.

And finally… speak life into other women.

Your words carry serious power.

That compliment you think is “small” could literally be the thing that keeps another woman going.

Tell her she looks beautiful.Tell her she’s intelligent.Tell her she’s glowing.Tell her she inspires you.

Softness is not weakness.

Softness is strength too.

Toxic Habits Women Need To Leave Behind in 2026 đźš«

Woman in a red shirt making an 'X' with her arms, conveying refusal. Neutral background, serious expression.

Now while we’re here Skinny Makoti’s… let’s also discuss a few things we seriously need to leave behind in 2026.

Competing With Your Friends

Two people in a heated discussion at a table with a cup, books, and candles. One is standing, gesturing, looking upset. Plain background.

Firstly… competing with friends.

Gurrrl why are we competing with women we call sisters?

You do not need to dim another woman’s light to make yours shine brighter.

Secure women understand timing, purpose, individuality and grace.

Reporting Before Resolving Problems

Two women sit back-to-back against a wooden wall, looking in opposite directions. One wears white, the other pink. Mood appears tense.

Secondly… reporting before resolving.

Not every disagreement needs HR.

Not every misunderstanding needs management.

Not every issue belongs in family WhatsApp groups or on social media.

Sometimes maturity simply looks like having an honest conversation.

Communication is maturity.

Escalation is not always wisdom.

Fake Support & Secret Jealousy

Woman with curly hair looks solemn, holding a phone, wearing a knit shawl. Two people in the blurred background, grayscale setting.

Thirdly… fake support.

Liking someone’s photos while secretly praying for their downfall is dangerous energy.

If you genuinely do not support someone, quietly distance yourself.

Pretending is exhausting.

Weaponizing Men Against Other Women

Man whispers to smiling woman, who covers her mouth, eyes closed. Casual setting, blue and white tones, playful and secretive mood.

Fourth… weaponizing men against women.

Now THIS one? Yoh.

Telling men another woman’s private business for entertainment, validation, gossip, or “pick me” points? Absolutely not.

Gurrrl… stand UP.

Some conversations should never leave female spaces.

Softness Is NOT Weakness'

Smiling woman in a colorful dress sits on a patio sofa, holding a blue drink. Sunlight highlights her hair. Casual and cheerful setting.

And lastly… let’s stop acting like softness makes women weak.

The internet has convinced so many women that kindness means foolishness.

No ma’am.

You can absolutely be:

soft AND smart, kind AND powerful, elegant AND assertive.

In fact, some of the strongest women I know are also the gentlest.

And that’s real power.

What a Healed Woman Truly Looks Like

Woman in a blue dress holds a green drink, sitting on a bench with a lion drawing and "COFFEE" text on the wall. Brick background.

Because a healed woman does not destroy other women.

She encourages.She evolves.She communicates.She uplifts.

And most importantly?

She understands that prosperity grows where peace exists.

The Real Glow-Up: Becoming a Safe Space for Women

Three friends sit close together outdoors, smiling. They wear casual jackets in a lush garden setting. Relaxed and happy mood.

Imagine how different life would feel if women truly became safe spaces for one another again.

Now THAT is the real glow-up.

And honestly, after all these deep life conversations, emotional healing, and gurrrl-code reflections… you know what we need?

Skinny Makoti’s Creamy Broccoli Cheddar Soup 🥦🧀

Because nothing pairs better with deep gurrrl talks than a warm bowl of creamy soup and toasted bread on a chilly evening.

Why This Soup Feels Like a Hug in a Bowl

Woman in a white shirt enjoys the aroma of food from a brown container in a softly lit kitchen, eyes closed and serene.

  2. Add your onions and sauté until soft and translucent, then stir in the garlic until fragrant.

  3. Add the grated carrots and cook gently before sprinkling in the flour to create a roux.

Why This Soup Is Perfect for Healing & Cozy Nights

A person in a cozy sweater holds a spoon over a bowl of soup. Various dishes and bread are on the table, creating a warm dining atmosphere.

And honestly Skinny Makoti’s, the reason we love this soup so much is because it’s:

high in fibre, mood boosting, comforting without the guilt, and absolutely perfect for late-night life talks with the girls.

Final Thoughts: The Real Luxury in 2026 ✨

So as I close off this week’s diary entry, I want to leave you with this thought:

Maybe the real luxury in 2026 is not designer bags, expensive dinners, or “soft life” aesthetics for Instagram.

Maybe the real luxury is becoming the kind of woman who makes other women feel:

safe,seen,heard,protected,and supported.

Now THAT’S Gurrrl Code.

Loads of Love,
